Whilst I love a bath as much as the next person, it’s the shower where I get down to the business of speed grooming. Generally with a good tune. And that makes me ridiculously happy.

On a week day I’ll try and do a Shona Vertue workout before I start clinic to get my happy hormones flowing. And then it’s time to freshen up with some favourite products... and a few newbies. I find that this routine really sets my mood up for getting sh*t done, and helps me with the perennial multi-tasking that is now the norm since starting the Dr Sam brand.

I start work on my hair, giving it a thorough brush-through with a Tangle Teezer to de-knot. It’s always knotted underneath at the back, no matter how aggressive my conditioning schedule. The wonderful Oskar Pera at the Drawing Room Salon does his utmost with a variety of super-powered unguents - Olaplex is excellent - but invariably after a few weeks, my wayward Irish tresses revert to type and seize up. Life.

Then after shampooing and conditioning I’ll move on to a facial cleanse, adjusting the water temperature to avoid dessicating my skin; then I progress to body. This order of events reduces the risk of any clogging from haircare, something I see a lot of in clinic.

So my current loves include:

Virtue Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner

Living Proof Restore Hair Mask

La Roche Posay Lipikar Eczema

And my invariable classic staples are:

Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

Flawless Cleanser

Ameliorate Smoothing Body Exfoliant

For rapid self-tanning:

St Tropez In-Shower

For rough spots (feet, knees and elbows):

Ameliorate Exfoliating Body Mitt

I’m in and out in 5 minutes, ready to start my day with maximum efficiency and just a hint of pampering va va voom.
