Autumn Empties 2020 - Beauty and Haircare I’d Repurchase

I’m spending carefully right now. It just seems appropriate as we enter a 2nd week of our 2nd lockdown. But that also means that I’m looking at the way I care for myself again, which is no bad thing. I *know* that meditation is a gamechanger for me when I’m anxious. So it’s time to refocus on why I abandon the one thing that helps me when I need it most (hello, dark side….!) And I definitely feel more restored and rested when I burrow into a great book - yet a Netflix binge is just that bit more accessible….so I’m going to work on that too.

But one constant is my approach to self-care. I think that the way we treat our skin and hair has tremendous power to revive our spirits and so I’ve been reflecting on the products that have come to an end that I’ll continue to buy. Considered consumption if you will.

Make-up

Whilst I’m definitely wearing less, I still like a light film of face-enhancing essentials so I still look like me on zoom calls. Under-eye concealer is a must and I find the pop of sheer colour that comes from the right pinky-nude lipstick immediately reviving.

Skincare

I love Flawless Light in summer and will keep it in my kit for oilier days in the second half of my cycle, as it hydrates and repairs my skin barrier but with a touch less dewiness (these are the days when my skin is dewy all by itself!)

Dr Sam’s - Flawless Moisturiser Light:

Bodycare

Two firm favourites that are a little spendy - but that feels kind of ok right now (as does my candle budget!!). Both are unfragranced and beautiful on the skin - when is Necessaire coming to the UK??

Drunk Elephant - Kamili Cream Body Cleanser:

Nécessaire - The Body Exfoliator:

Haircare

I feel that doing my hair is a big part of feeling good about myself as a general rule - and even though I’m not going out, this still feels a worthwhile use of my time. With my Dyson dryer and airwrap, this is a doddle, so all I need is a little something to smooth the ends and a supple-hold spray to keep the shape at the front. Living Proof products tick all the right boxes.
